We devote considerable effort to determining the most accurate market
value of a company. We make this investment, because we want to set
a price that will get you the maximum value for your company without
pricing the business out of the market. On very rare occasions, a
business owner will disagree with the value that we established. When
this happens, we will refund the listing retainer and void the Listing
Agreement. Why? The last thing that anyone wants to do is waste everyone’s
time by asking a price that is unreasonable. Unfortunately some firms,
especially business brokers, have been known to overprice businesses
to entice business owners to use them. We have developed a list of
Value Discount Factors that are considered for every Market Valuation
that we complete. We realize that no company is perfect. On the other
hand, we also realize that informed buyers will discount the theoretical
market value of a business to reflect risk. To ignore a company’s
warts is placing an unrealistic expectation on price.
