Business brokers are generally effective at reaching local job-seeking buyers but not effective at finding other types of business buyers. Unfortunately for those business owners who opt for the business broker “real estate” type selling approach, local buyers are generally the least likely to pay a premium price for the seller’s business. On the other hand, most investment banking firms are very effective at finding obvious strategic and private equity buyers, but have little or no capability to locate qualified private business buyers or reach a wide audience of strategic or financial buyers. There is a reason that most investment banking firms do not represent smaller, mid-market privately held businesses. Larger businesses are easier to sell, because the universe of buyers is focused, easily identified and financially qualified. We concentrate on representing firms in the lower half of the mid-market – less than $50 million in annual sales. We have, therefore, developed superb tools like Phased Marketing and extensive contact programs that outperform our competitors.
Alpha Omega developed the Phased Marketing approach to provide the
owners of smaller sized, privately held mid-market companies with
the opportunity of selling to a strategic or private equity buyer
at a premium without sacrificing the option of a private sale if the
business is not able to attract a premium buyer.
